The Bookshop That Floated Away – Sarah Henshaw

This made me laugh and cry but mainly laugh, a lot.

I’m completely in awe of @thebookbarge’s intrepid adventures and absolutely recommend this. You don’t even have to have a preexisting interest in barges (/narrowboats), Britain’s waterways, or independent bookshops (although the latter is arguably a prerequisite to loving books).

A note on the photo. No, this isn’t the ‘before’ shot to me throwing my copy into the canal. I was just THRILLED to be walking along the Regent’s Canal — and my favourite bit of it, at that — earlier today, as I was nearing the end of the book. Of course, I was seized by the irrepressible, obnoxious millennial urge to preemptively photograph the book in situ, on one of the very bits of canal that Sarah travelled.
